“Libiamo, libiamo ne’ lieti calici, che la bellezza infiora.” It is the famous words of Alfredo, in improvising a toast that cheers to the joys of wine, to have inspired the creation of a glass tribute to La traviata by Giuseppe Verdi. An opera that has become a cornerstone of the Phoenix repertoire and always present in the program of the New Year’s Concert. The Zafferano glass personalized with the logo of the Venetian Theatre, was presented by Fortunato Ortombina, artistic director of the Teatro La Fenice, together with Federico de Majo, managing director of Zafferano, author of the design of the glass. The project is part of a three-year partnership signed in January, which sees Zafferano as a supporting member of the La Fenice Theatre Foundation in Venice. «The partnership with Zafferano is for the Phoenix reason of great satisfaction - said Fortunato Ortombina, artistic director of the Foundation Teatro La Fenice-. Our brand is associated with a company like Zafferano, which has chosen to invest in the territory combining innovation and enhancement of traditions, is one of the fundamental actions on which the foundation rests the cultural and entrepreneurial project of the Foundation. It is the dialogue with the most important business realities of the territory as Zafferano to make of the Phoenix a cultural company and an economic enterprise deeply rooted in the Venetian community». The new goblet made for the Teatro La Fenice belongs to the Esperienze line and is designed by Federico de Majo. It will be used for the toast on the occasion of the New Year’s Concert 2018 and, in limited edition from year to year, left as a souvenir to the participants. «For me, Venetian by birth, it is a great honor - he has evidenced Federico de Majo, managing director of Zafferano-to be able to present the chalice of the Teatro La Fenice. This Theatre evokes unforgettable moments, lived here with my family. At the same time, becoming a Supporter of this institution is part of a path that consists in reconnecting with my city and my roots, to that island where my passion for glass and my professional life began. A path that we as a company make producing the most valuable glass in Murano, where we are resuming production, perhaps a little against the tide, but the challenges are what attract me the most. Venice is not just a tourist trip. The interest in the artistic and cultural values of the city where I was born - concluded Federico de Majo- led me to marry a bond with an institution that preserves its beauty and strengthens its prestige around the world. That’s why at Fondazione Teatro La Fenice, we proudly chose to give all our support». The Esperienze di Zafferano glasses, personalized with the logo of Teatro La Fenice and a dedicated packaging, will be part of the merchandising on sale at the bookshop of the Teatro and made available for online purchase.
